The right to use Sierra Pacific's/Nevada Power's transmission system to move electricity from a source of generation to an electric load center may be reserved by any Eligible transmission customer, up to the limits of the available capacity. The Open Access Same-time Information System (OASIS) facilitates the distribution of transmission information and the reservation of services. Access to this information is available to anyone who registers with our OASIS site.
Retail Open Access was made possible with the passage of AB661 during the 2001 Nevada Legislative session. This legislation established the criteria for eligible customers to purchase energy, capacity and ancillary services from providers of new electric resources.
Nevada Power and Sierra Pacific Power (the two subsidiaries of Sierra Pacific Resources) are continually competing and acquiring reliable, affordable power supplies for its customers.
The long-term strategy of the Supply Chain Management department at Sierra Pacific Resources (parent company of Nevada Power and Sierra Pacific Power) includes the creation of extended enterprise with our suppliers dedicated to continuous improvement and cooperation.
